"Julia Ross has outdone herself with a magnificent book called The
Mood Cure. It takes her first book, The Diet Cure, to a new level"
Dr. Amy Saltzman, holistic physician and a founding Diplomate of the American Board of Holistic Medicine.
"For those of you with depression, and those of you working with folks
with depression. I wanted to recommend a new book The Mood Cure by
Julia Ross. Julia's basic premise is that most depression is due to
deficiencies in protein/ amino acids. She has divided depression into
4 subtypes, each usually responsive to a single amino acid. Folks may
have one or more subtype, and the amino acids can be taken in
combination. This approach is particularly suited for folks who might
benefit from meds but prefer a more holistic approach, and for folks
who are on meds and would like to get off. Folks who do not respond
to the amino acids may have imbalances in their thyroid, adrenal or sex
hormones, diagnosed with some simple lab work, and usually easily
treated. Julia's book is designed for the lay person and specifies
the circumstances in which an individual would benefit from working with a holistic physician- when they are on meds and want to get off, and when they don't respond to the basic aminos. This book filled in a
missing puzzle piece in my practice and has been of great benefit to
my patients.

"As a psychotherapist for the past twenty-eight years, I am all too aware that there are limits to what to what we can do. Most people don't even think of nutrition when they are feeling emotionally upset, but Julia Ross shows how simple changes in nutrition can have profound effects on mood and mental outlook. In this book, you may be able to finally get a handle on problems that have been seen only as psychological issues in the past. This book can empower you to take control of your emotional life."
